WILL THE MONEY BE WORTH IT? PRAYER WALKERS PRESS ON DESPITE RAIN

Prayer Walk Update: Today's prayer walk was great. We had about 15 people walking today despite the rain. We made a loop from Safe Harbor Church, to the Martial Arts Studio and back west down by the "Location" and back to Safe Harbor.
One of the most heart wrenching things we all witnessed were the numerous school buses passing us and dropping kids off right next to the proposed location. We also witnessed families going into the airport veternary clinic which is right next to the "location." We all increased our prayers to God as we witnessed this. One of the verses on our prayer sheet was Ephesians 6:12. We truly believe that no amount of money in the world to be made at a strip club (even tax revenue for a city) is worth having school buses filled with children stopping at bus drop offs right next to this for years on end.
I am reminded of Pastor James Calderazzo's article where he says, "Study after study has shown that there are negative effects on neighborhoods where strip clubs that serve alcohol are located. “All types of crimes, including sex related crimes, occur more often in neighborhoods where sexually oriented businesses are located. A summary of 34 secondary effects reports from communities across the United States shows dramatically increased rates of violent crimes and property crimes in neighborhoods with sexually oriented businesses” (http://www.scribd.com/doc/85050904/SB3348-Fact-Sheets).
If there is anyone reading this that is a part of the group that is putting this in. We want to ask the question, "Will it be worth it? If one person, one child, has a violent crime committed against them because of the influence of this club. Will the money be worth it?"
A reporter from http://www.al.com/mobile/ was there (no story yet) He said our story (The Citizens Group fighting this) was spreading to their area and he met with Pastor James Calderazzo to do an interview. We made sure to let him know, we were not there for press coverage but to seek God in prayer and for God's power to help us in fighting this. But we did want him to feel welcome to get information, because we do want to encourage other communities in this type of fight. We hope more people can join us next Friday at 3:33pm!

Prayer Warriors of Destin against the strip club was inspired by our Loving, Almighty and All Merciful God who neither slumbers nor sleeps watching over us, as a result of the groundswelling of opposition to the "first" strip club to be built in Destin, Florida. Previously, a certain man, Terry Stephenson, was trying to establish topless dancing at the Oasis Bar and Billiards on Mountain Drive. He also owned Pin-Ups, a Strip Club in Atlanta Georgia. In 2010, he was gunned down in a robbery in front of his own establishment. Partners decided to go ahead with a proposed "Adult Caberet" to be named "The Runway." Alerted by Channel 3 camera and interviewer, Patti Terjak of Destin answered a knock at her door asking her opinion on the proposed club on Airport in her neighboring Kellaire Gardens subdivision. It was the first she had heard of it. Veterinarian Kelly Haeusler of Aiport Veterinary Clinic tried to buy the neighboring property for a parking area for her business, but was informed that it had been sold for a strip club. A local man known as Erick Rockclub was evicted by police from the property where he was a resident for ten years from when he was employed by the a nursery and pottery center. He was given no prior notice, and was then homeless. Building plans have been submitted to the City. A settlement order from a federal judge "guaranteed" developers the "right" to build a sex club in an expedited fashion, as a result of a lawsuit with the City. In January 2013, D. R. A. A. C. (Destin Residents Against Adult Caberet) was formed, as a community interest page on facebook. A change.org petition was started, with the goal of 2,500 signatures (half of the population of Destin, rather than the 300 residents affected by the construction who are legally required to be informed prior to building permits are issued. At last count, the number of signatures has reached a great number, and that from 23 other states as well. It seems that even the tourists know and want to be heard that this is a very bad move for Destin, the most popular family oriented and vacation spot on the Emerald Coast, which receives 20 million visitors a year (Okaloosa County) of which 6 million choose the purity of white sand beaches and enjoy the specialness of Destin, Florida. Destin is known for it's annual Blessings of the Fleet and the Marketplace, and other community categories by the collective Church of Destin, a non-profit corporation of all the member Churches, which is an arm of Harvest House ministries. Harvest House functions as a central pantry and helper for the needy. Now, donations for starting a non-profit 501-C called CITIZENS FOR A GREATER DESTIN are being accepted through Paypal. In addition, "Prayer Walks" are being conducted based on the story of Jericho, in the bible, on 7 consecutive Fridays, beginning last Friday. The next will be at 3:33 p.m. at the Safe Harbor Church on the corner of Main and Airport Road. The devil will not win this fight. God will prevail. We have on our side after all, an Advocate (Attorney) with the FATHER, Jesus Christ, the RigHteous and He is the perfect sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but he sins of the entire world. //
